A POLAR BEAR PLUNGE is an event held during the winter where participants enter a body of water despite the low temperature.
Plunges are now held across the United States. Annual events are held in Seattle, NY, Boston, New Jersey, Maryland, Canada, and Europe. NY’s Coney Island Polar Bear Club(founded in 1903) has about 1500 participants and over 7000 spectators. That’s a great turnout for water that’s 39 degrees farenheit!
