Despite our relatively warm winter temperatures in New Orleans, it still gets pretty chilly.

On December 25th at 11AM we will be jumping in Lake Pontchartrain for a brisk swim. This is an all ages event that should grow in participation each year, but this is the inaugural PLUNGE.

Please join us and be a part of history. The swim takes place at serene Pontchartrain Beach. In addition to taking the cold PLUNGE, we will be picking up trash on Pontchartrain Beach. There will also be free beer for adults and stickers for anyone provided by NOadventure. Everybody wins!

The rules:

None really. Wear a wetsuit if you like. This whole thing is about having holiday fun. Because of the rocks and other debris on the beach, shoes might be a good idea. Otherwise, what you wear is up to you. 11am is the perfect time between opening presents and feasting on a holiday meal. Remember that swimming is optional, you can just watch and enjoy the lake.

2 Cold water plunges are exhilarating and good for skin, circulation, and general health.

3 It’s not that cold(about 68 degrees – maybe warmer).

4 11am is after presents, but before holiday dinner.

5 When is the last time you went swimming?

6 This is an event for true locals – if you don’t holiday in New Orleans, you’re probably not from here.

7 Complimentary beer for drinking age participants.

8 This is a whimsical event for people of all ages who like to have fun.

9 Spectators are welcome. Swimming is not mandatory.
